Dr. Schuster joined the faculty in 2019. After completing her family medicine residency here at Memorial in 2018, she completed the Health Services Management Fellowship and received her Masters of Public Affairs from Indiana University in 2019. She was chief resident during her third year of residency. During her fellowship year, she was involved with the start of the Suboxone Clinic at the residency program and created the Medication Assisted Treatment handbook to help guide resident and faculty management of patients with opioid use disorder. As a faculty member, she is involved with recruiting, continues to deliver babies, organizes medical student rotations, including family medicine clerkship rotations for IU South Bend third-year medical students, remains active in the Suboxone Clinic Committee, and is actively working on achieving Osteopathic Recognition for the residency program with Dr. Balam. She couldn’t ask for a better group of physicians and residents to work with. When not at work, she can be found spending time with her husband Randy, her son Gramm, and their dog Judy.

Why Memorial: Clearly I couldn’t leave :). I’ll never forget my interview day here for residency – I was finally in a place that truly promoted full-spectrum family medicine with the most supportive group of fellow residents, faculty and staff that I had ever seen. How could I leave this atmosphere? I love that Memorial and the South Bend community respect the “full-spectrum” family medicine physician and continue to support their integration into hospital medicine and obstetrics as well as outpatient care. The support is palpable and the energy from the residents pushes me to be a better doctor every day.

Clinical interests: Full spectrum care including obstetrics, OMT, MAT

Hobbies: Mom life, playing with my dog Judy, running and exercise classes, cheering for Chicago sports teams, and enjoying restaurant patios with my husband Randy

Favorite quotes: “Isn’t it nice to think tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?” Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables

Favorite podcasts: Primary Care Rap! The residents know I am obsessed with this podcast!!

Favorite thing to do/place to go in South Bend/Mishawaka: Ice skating at Howard Park in the winter
