Hometown: Demotte, IN
Bio: I want to help people live healthy, meaningful lives. I find as much joy and fulfillment in medicine when I get to talk with someone about their diet and exercise plans for the year as I do when I can help solve and treat a nagging, chronic problem a patient has been dealing with for years. Because of this, I found that primary care is the specialty for me – I get to walk through a whole range of life moments with people and build relationships along the way. I love getting to work with individual people to find out where their passions and interests are, and trying to find ways to build a healthy lifestyle around that. If you see me outside of work, I am probably out riding my mountain bike or road bike, working in the garden, trying a new recipe or learning about doing one of those things on YouTube. Of course, I couldn’t forget to mention spending quality time with my wife, Kristen, and my golden retriever, Alfie.
Why Memorial: The Family Medicine Residency at Memorial Hospital quickly landed at the top of my list of favorite programs after I got to visit. The people here are second to none. If you have a niche interest within Family Medicine, chances are one of the faculty members is an expert in that area. The staff are supportive and lovable. The residents care for you like a sibling and aren’t afraid to have fun at work! If that wasn’t enough of a reason, the hospital is great as well. We have access to all the specialists you could ask for, and consequently you won’t leave residency feeling like there is a type of medical problem you are not comfortable managing as a primary care physician.
