Hometown: Bremen, IN
Bio: Hello, my name is Jesse Gettinger, and I am from the small town of Bremen just thirty minutes south of South Bend, IN. Growing up, the biggest inspiration I had was my Dad, a family physician. Watching him care for his patients, and seeing him work so closely with the community showed me the great impact a family physician can have. I received my B.A. in Philosophy at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, OH. I then spent a year as a medical scribe for Dr. David Rosentrater, a family physician in Bremen. In that year I saw the ins-and-outs of a rural family medicine clinic and enjoyed every minute of it. It grew in me the interest to return to a rural clinic where I intent to practice the full scope of family medicine. I especially enjoy in-office procedures and the continuity between the out-patient clinic and in-patient medicine. I was able to stay in the area for medical school when I was accepted to the Indiana University School of Medicine, South Bend Campus. I am married to my lovely wife Lauren and we have two children, Lucy and Margaret (“Maggie”).
Why Memorial:
I am excited to be continuing my education with the Memorial Hospital Family Medicine Residency. I have already had so many valuable experiences with the faculty and residents of Memorial through my medical school years in South Bend. I know I will be well-prepared to practice medicine confidently and compassionately after my time with the first-rate educators and residents at Memorial Hospital Family Medicine Residency.
