Hometown: Farmington Hills, MI
Bio: My name is Katie George and I grew up in the metro Detroit area. I attended Kalamazoo College where I studied biology, played varsity softball, and studied abroad in Quito, Ecuador. Following undergrad, I came back to the east side of Michigan for medical school, and as you can tell I am now a family medicine resident at Memorial. In my free time, I enjoy running, (vegan) food and drink, going to the movies, reading, and travel (any beach is great but I especially love northern Michigan and southern Spain).
Why Memorial: full-spectrum training, large enough hospital to see a wide variety of cases but small enough to have clinic right across the street, friendly and supportive culture
Clinical interests: POCUS, lifestyle medicine
Hobbies: running, reading, going to the movies
Favorite quotes: “Find someone to love and love without condition. This is why we’re all here.” -Lisa Genova, Love Anthony
Favorite books: Beartown by Fredrik Backman, The Rose Code by Kate Quinn, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Favorite podcasts: The Moth
Advice: Figure out what brings you joy/fills you up on your one day off a week and make it a priority
Favorite thing to do/place to go in South Bend/Mishawaka: enjoy food and drinks with friends (Nom nom pho has GREAT vegan ramen)
