Hometown: Fort Collins, CO

Bio: Hello! My name is Keith Christian, and I am the son of two Puerto Rican immigrants who was born and raised in Fort Collins, CO. I went to college at Colorado State University, where I met my beautiful wife Rachel. I love to learn and have always been a generalist at heart, which is why I did a dual degree in college; I majored in biochemistry and interdisciplinary liberal arts, with minors in Spanish and philosophy. From Colorado, I went to the University of Cincinnati for medical school where I was shaped by my patient population, especially the Hispanic population, as well as the doctors that mentored me, such as the family docs involved in the local Catholic Medical Association.

I excited to continue my training in South Bend, Indiana. It’s a long way away from home and family, but being able to train under the supportive doctors and rich practice environment at Memorial is completely worth it!

Outside of the hospital, I also enjoy spending time with my wife and friends. Rachel and I love to dance, so we are hoping to find a new venue for salsa or blues dancing soon. We also love going out into nature.

Why Memorial: The broad diversity and skills sets of the faculty such as faculty who work for the USA Olympic weight lifting team, perform international medicine, and were previous presidents of the AAFP. Great inpatient and outpatient clinical experiences including a Level 2 trauma center, full pediatric hospital, and diverse patient population. Resources such as our sim center, personal computers, IT in house, clinic pharmacist, insurance navigator, and getting 2 personal rooms for your patients on clinic days.

Clinical interests: Procedures, Spanish speaking patient population

Hobbies: Salsa/blues dancing, ping pong, playing cards, lifting

Favorite quotes: Relationships move at the speed of trust.

Favorite podcasts: Art of Manliness, Word on Fire

Favorite thing to do/place to go in South Bend/Mishawaka: Walking around the lake at Notre Dame.
