Hometown: Mokena, IL
Dr. Schuster joined the faculty in 2019 after completing residency here at Memorial and the Health Services Management curriculum culminating with receiving her Masters of Public Affairs from Indiana University South Bend. She used her fellowship year to help implement suboxone training and practice within the residency program. As a faculty member, she is the scheduling chief liaison, manages the residents’ rotations schedules, organizes recruiting events and medical student rotations, including family medicine clerkship rotations for IU South Bend medical students, and leads the osteopathic curriculum as the Director of Osteopathic Education. She couldn’t ask for a better group of physicians and residents to work with. When not at work, she can be found spending time with her husband Randy, her two sons Gramm & Trey (#boymom) and their dog Judy.
Why Memorial: Clearly I couldn’t leave :). I’ll never forget my interview day here for residency – I was finally in a place that truly promoted full-spectrum family medicine with the most supportive group of fellow residents, faculty and staff that I had ever seen. How could I leave this atmosphere? I love that Memorial and the South Bend community respect the “full-spectrum” family medicine physician and continue to support their integration into hospital medicine and obstetrics as well as outpatient care. The support is palpable and the energy from the residents pushes me to be a better doctor every day.
