Hometown: Fleetwood, PA
Bio: I’m David, a Pennsylvania native, who is excited to be doing my residency training in South Bend, Indiana at Memorial Hospital! My path to medicine was a bit unique. I studied biology in undergrad and was on-track to start medical school right after graduation when I felt called to defer to serve for two years as a campus missionary in Towson, Maryland. I couldn’t have imagined how much that decision would impact my future as a doctor and person. It was during that time that I really fell in love with caring for people holistically and accompanying them through life’s ups and downs. In medical school it was this same passion that led me to family medicine because I love the opportunity to journey with people through their health and life in all its facets, stages, and events!
Why Memorial: I met Memorial at the AAFP conference and loved getting to meet some faculty and residents. During my in-person interview day, I felt that Memorial didn’t just have robust training but also the faculty and residents that I wanted to be like as a future family medicine physician. They all seemed truly devoted to compassionate, holistic, patient-centered health care and seemed genuinely excited to have me as a part of the team. Memorial also offered a strong full-spectrum training at an unopposed program with opportunities to work with the underserved, explore global health opportunities, and grow in my procedures/ultrasound training.
