Joshua Wright, MD, MS

College: Calvin University
Medical School: Drexel University College of Medicine
Graduate Work: The University of Notre Dame

Hometown: Beaver Falls, PA

Bio: I grew up in a small town in Western Pennsylvania, just outside of Pittsburgh. In high school, I enjoyed math and science, leading me to pursue a career in chemical engineering. While working on my PhD in chemical engineering at the University of Notre Dame, I felt a clear and distinct calling to dedicate my life to the direct service of others. After months of prayer and discernment, I decided to step out in faith, leaving my PhD program to pursue a career in medicine.

I am excited to be returning to South Bend as a family doctor. My wife, Sarah, and I met at Redeemer Missionary Church in South Bend when we were both graduate students, and we are looking forward to reconnecting with the South Bend community, now with our two daughters, Lydia and Lilly. In many ways, we feel like we are coming home!

Why Memorial: During my interview, I was blown away by the rigorous training and supportive environment cultivated by the faculty, residents and staff. It was clear to me that the physicians at Memorial go above and beyond to help their patients, and this is the type of physician I am striving to become. Because of this, I immediately wanted to become part of the Memorial Family, and I am so excited to join the team.

Clinical interests: Preventative care, Pediatrics, Inpatient medicine, Addiction medicine, Rural/underserved care.

Hobbies: I love cooking, playing piano, waterskiing, watching movies, and fixing up old cars.

Favorite quotes: “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep, to gain what he cannot lose.” -Jim Elliot

“Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock
be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.”
