Hometown: Columbus, Ohio
Bio: I have always wanted to work in a hospital from the time I was a young child because they felt like little “cities” to me and had the goal of helping people. As I grew up and as the eldest of nine kids, I witnessed many of my siblings’ births and even cut a few of my brothers’ umbilical cords! Seeing the way that the OB team coached my mom through labor and the miracle of a newborn child, I thought I would become an OB/GYN, but during medical school, I realized that then I would not see the babies grow up or get to practice the other fascinating parts of medicine if I chose that path. I chose Family Medicine so that I could develop deep, ongoing relationships and so that nothing would be outside the realm of my learning responsibilities. I also wish to raise a family with my husband, and I think FM will be most conducive to that!
Why Memorial: Memorial was a CLEAR first choice for me. As a fourth-year medical student, I completed Memorial’s In-Depth FM elective and had the best patient experiences of my medical schooling. I felt like a real member of the team and was able to assist in history-taking, note-writing, physical examinations, cervical checks and deliveries on OB, OMM, and more. Most importantly, I forged strong bonds with the residents at the program and knew that Memorial would not only hold me to the highest standards in my medical practice but also invite me to join a community of talented, fun-loving, and family-centered residents and faculty. I am so thrill
