Kaedon Buchmiller, DO

College: Utah State University
Medical School: Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine

Hometown: Logan, UT

Bio: Hey, I’m Kaedon Buchmiller. I grew up in Logan, Utah, surrounded by mountains that shaped my love for the outdoors and staying active. After high school, I served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints in Veracruz, Mexico. I completed my undergraduate studies at Utah State University, where I met my wonderful wife, Hannah. Among the various jobs I had in college, my favorite was coaching high school basketball. We welcomed our first child during those years, then moved to Kansas City for medical school, where our family grew to include two more kids. They are my greatest support system.

Why Memorial: After committing to family medicine, I sought out programs that would challenge me to become the best, most complete physician I could be. It was important to me to find a program and community where my wife, children and I felt supported, and I also wanted access to meaningful sports medicine opportunities during my training. Having heard about Memorial’s reputation, I decided to do a rotation here and see for myself. This program had everything I was looking for. Above all else, I was deeply impressed with the people here. Their knowledge, skill, and character expanded my vision of what I could become in just a few short years. I’ve found South Bend to be a great, family-friendly community, and I consider it a blessing to be a part of Memorial.

Clinical interests: Sports medicine, preventive medicine, lifestyle medicine, medical education.

Hobbies: Pickup basketball, productivity tools, tech, audiobooks/podcasts, spending quality time with my family.

Favorite quotes: “Sometimes when I consider what tremendous consequences come from little things, I am tempted to think there are no little things.” – Bruce Barton

Favorite books: Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling (although I just read the Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson… his works might take the top spot)

Favorite podcast: The NoSleep Podcast

Best advice: Find joy in the journey! The destination appears to be an illusion.

Favorite thing to do in South Bend/Mishawaka: We still have lots to explore, but Howard Park has been a highlight for the family! Also happy to have so many great places to eat.
