Hometown: Greenville, MI
Bio: I grew up in a small rural Michigan town, northeast of Grand Rapids, where I spent my childhood running through cornfields and reading the entirety of the public library. I was the first in my family to attend and graduate college, as well as the first in my family to pursue a career in medicine. For my undergraduate studies, I moved to the opposite side of the state to attend University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where I studied Neuroscience. After completing my undergraduate degree, I attended Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine in Kalamazoo, MI to pursue my MD. When I started medical school I had no intention of pursing Family Medicine. However, through my clinical experiences and several life changing patient encounters, I realized that the whole person care that Family Medicine provides was exactly what I was looking for. While I have always been a Michigan girl and was skeptical about leaving my home state, it only took one visit to South Bend to feel right at home. There is no place I would rather be while I continue along this journey to become a family physician.
Why Memorial: When I was applying and interviewing at residency programs, I was looking for a program that provided full spectrum training while also providing a strong supportive community. This is exactly what I found when I met the wonderful people at the Memorial Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program.
