Hometown: Ireland, IN
Bio: Hi there! My name is Kristin. I grew up in the small town of Ireland, Indiana, surrounded by cornfields and farmland. After graduating from Jasper High School, I moved to Indianapolis to attend IUPUI, where I majored in Biology and Neuroscience. I fell in love with medicine after attending a study abroad program in Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) and mission trips to the Dominican Republic. Following undergrad, I spent two years cementing my decision to pursue medicine by working as an EMT and medical scribe before attending medical school at Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. I chose to specialize in Family Medicine for so many reasons, including the ability to provide continuity of care to patients of all ages and backgrounds, and to serve as a partner in my patients’ health as we navigate together the social, economic, cultural, and environmental factors that contribute to health and disease.
In my free time, you’ll likely find me spending time with my cat, Patches, or exploring nature.
Why Memorial: I fell in love with Memorial Hospital and its people during my interview in residency application season. The staff showed such enthusiasm and pride for the program and their residents, and I was in awe of their ability to balance academic rigor with such a welcoming, well-rounded culture. Furthermore, I had such a great time chatting with everyone during my interview, and every person I met was genuinely excited to get to know me as a person. I immediately felt that I would fit in here and knew this was the program for me!
