Hometown: Goshen, IN
Bio: I was a child who always loved learning and asking lots of questions. I chose to become a doctor because it fulfilled both my love for science and my passion for helping and caring for people. I knew from when I started medical school that the broad, primary care focus of family medicine was the right specialty for me. I love taking care of all ages, literally womb to tomb!
While I grew up in the Midwest (Kansas and Indiana), I have family, connections and experiences all over the world. I have been blessed with opportunities to visit and live in many countries, which has shaped me personally and professionally. In terms of my career, foremost amongst these experiences are a college semester in Peru, a year in Bolivia doing a voluntary service program, and medical/public health school related experiences in El Salvador and Kenya. I am passionate about public health, preventative medicine, and working with underserved populations, particularly immigrants and those with language barriers.
Why Memorial: During and after my interview I was struck by the friendliness and engagement of faculty and residents that I met. I was also drawn by the program’s opportunities in women’s health, ultrasound, and to work with underserved populations.
