Hometown: Maple Grove, MN

Bio: Hi! My name is Hannah, and I am thrilled to be joining the class of 2025 at Memorial Hospital Family Medicine Residency! I grew up in Maple Grove, MN where I am the middle child of three. My dad is a project manager for a flooring company and my mom stayed at home with us kids growing up. There was never any pressure to follow in their footsteps so long as we liked the essentials: fishing, cribbage, and spending time outdoors. My parents always encouraged us to stay curious and pursue our own interests ultimately leading my brother into carpentry, sister to computer programing, and myself to the wonders of medicine. I attended the University of St. Thomas where I received my B.S. in biochemistry before heading west to the University of North Dakota for medical school. Outside of medicine, I love practicing yoga, am always down to play any board or card game, would really like to work on my Spanish skills, and will ask to pet any dog I walk by.

Why Memorial: During my third year of medical school I completed a longitudinal rural rotation in Jamestown, North Dakota where I worked with two family physicians who introduced me to Memorial. They are brilliant and had both completed their residency training here and are now practicing broad-spectrum family medicine with OB. During my Zoom interview, it was obvious to me that I would be well-trained for a broad-spectrum practice with opportunities to learn various procedures like C-sections with the OB fellowship and colonoscopies. But what really solidified my decision to choose Memorial Hospital was attending the in-person second look event. Every person I met was excited to get to know me as a person and truly took an interest in my personal and professional goals. I cannot wait to get started!

Clinical interests: OB/women’s health, international medicine, POCUS, procedures, rural health, LGBTQ+ health, emergency medicine, complementary and alternative medicine

Hobbies: rollerblading, cribbage/board games, hot yoga, live music, making pierogies, being out in the sunshine

Favorite quotes:

Favorite books: The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down by Anne Fadiman

Favorite podcasts: Girls Gotta Eat, White Coat Investor Podcast

Advice: Treat everything like it’s either going to be a great time or a great story 🙂

Favorite thing to do/place to go in South Bend/Mishawaka: Walk along the Riverwalk, try new coffee shops/restaurants, and I’m looking forward to going to my first Notre Dame football game!
