Hometown: Kirkwood, MO
Bio: My name is Urban Cornett. I was born in Arlington, Va. and moved to St. Louis when I was 10. During high school, I was focused on my time in scouting that culminated in building a Christmas tree lot for my parish. I went to the University of Notre Dame and during my time there I was a student- athletic trainer. I was able to work with all the sports teams up at Notre Dame and my favorite memory was working Notre Dame’s first college football playoff appearance in 2018. I went to SLU for medical school where I focused on social determinants of health, medical education and sports medicine. I am excited to continue my medical journey and to be back in the South Bend area.
Why Memorial: I wanted to find a program where I would be pushed outside my comfort zone to be the best resident/physician that I can be. I also wanted a program where the residents and faculty felt like family as well as treating the patients like family. Finally, I am planning to pursue a fellowship in sports medicine and what better place than South Bend to achieve that. Memorial had all those things and on my interview day, I felt I was already part of that family.
