Hometown: Goshen, IN
Bio: During my time in college I was able to complete my premedical coursework while pursuing a degree in Spanish and Hispanic Cultures, including spending a year as an exchange student in Guanajuato, Mexico. Both my time abroad and my time shadowing prior to medical school sparked my interest in the ways that various social factors like race, language, gender, and class influence health and the relationship individuals have with the healthcare system. I continued to study these factors as I pursued my degree in public health. I was able to further explore how to address these issues during my time as a medical student by working with the Navari Student Outreach Clinic on the west side of South Bend.
When not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two young children. We enjoy being outside, cooking together, and visiting local South Bend spots.
Why Memorial: I was eager to find a program where I would be challenged to work hard and learn a lot while being surrounded by people who enjoyed doing the work. To find this program in our own backyard is the icing on the cake!
