Hometown: Brooklyn, OH
Bio: Hello! My name is Sherry Magrey and I am thrilled to be joining the Memorial Family! I’m from Brooklyn, Ohio, a small town that borders Cleveland. I earned a BS in Chemistry and my Adolescent/Young Adult education license at John Carroll University. After college, I spent 10 years teaching high school Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, and Advanced Placement Chemistry in Bay Village, Ohio. While teaching, I also earned a master’s degree in Education Administration from Cleveland State University. Although I certainly loved my time teaching, I also felt called to pursue a career in medicine, and went on to complete medical school at the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences (UTCOMLS). I knew I enjoyed interacting with students and families over many years while working as a teacher, and was thus pulled toward Family Medicine even before starting medical school. My time in medical school confirmed my love of the specialty. My passion for teaching continued throughout medical school, and I utilized my background in curriculum design and instruction to work with a Family Medicine attending physician at UTCOMLS to create two brand new courses for medical students while I was a medical student. I hope to continue teaching in medicine and am very excited to educate my patients and other residents and medical students around me as a family physician.
Why Memorial: The wonderful people, warm environment and the incredible breadth and depth of training for Family Medicine residents. I felt welcomed by all at Memorial and I know I will be challenged and receive excellent training here.
