Daniel Armounfelder, MD, MPH

College: Goshen College
Medical School: Indiana University School of Medicine
Graduate Work: Thomas Jefferson University

Hometown: Manhattan, KS

Bio: Hello! My name is Daniel (or Danny, I use both), and I’m so excited to be joining the team at Memorial Hospital! I live here in South Bend with my spouse, Eliana, and our endlessly entertaining cats. In my spare time I like to hang out with friends, run, read fun books, and try my best to learn other languages. I did med school at the South Bend campus of IU Medical School, so I’m really glad I get to stay in town and continue to explore all this community has to offer!

Why Memorial: Firstly, the people! Everyone in the residency program is so kind and cares so deeply about what they do. Secondly, Memorial has a very interesting and wide variety of medical services that I’m excited to learn from!

Clinical interests: Addiction medicine, care of the underserved, care of LGBTQ+ populations

Hobbies: Spending time with family and friends, running, reading, playing with cats 🙂

Favorite quotes: Human progress isn’t measured by industry. It’s measured by the value you place on a life… an unimportant life… a life without privilege. The boy who died on the river, that boy’s value is your value. That’s what defines an age. That’s… what defines a species. — Doctor Who

Favorite books: The Lives We Actually Have: 100 Blessings for Imperfect Days by Kate Bowler and Jessica Richie

Favorite podcast: A Morning at the Office – an Episcopal Morning Prayer Podcast

Best advice: Don’t let your passions slip away, even when you’re really busy! Even if you only do them very sparingly, they’re what keep you afloat.

Favorite thing to do in South Bend/Mishawaka: What a hard question! Walking/running along the river walk is lovely, though.
